National Shelter Appreciation Week acknowledges and promotes the important work that shelters do in providing care for millions of abandoned and stray animals while they await their chance at finding a loving home. We all need to get involved. Here is how I offer support and what you can do.

As a dog photographer I am often asked if I take pictures of anything other than pets, like wildlife for example. Well the answer is a resounding yes! I love doing wildlife photography when the opportunity arises. If you’d like to see some of my favourite bird photos read on.

As a dog photographer in the Toronto area, I find that in addition to the request for lovely portraits and family photos, many clients ask for those action shots of their dogs running and playing.

Let’s face it, a dog’s time with us is much too short and we all feel the sadness that comes with this knowledge. Photos of our pets have a way of consoling us once they are gone or as their lives near the end.

Today I’ll feature a photo session from another one of my favourite places for dog photography in Toronto, Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens. It's rustic gates, old stone walls and beds of bright flowers create a charming atmosphere for pet photography.
