Dog Photography at The Beaches, Toronto

One of my favourite locations for dog photography in Toronto is the Beach (also known as The Beaches).

The Beach is really a neighbourhood just east of downtown Toronto but it has the feel of a small town village.  The two main attractions for dog and family photography sessions are its lovely public park, Kew Gardens and its sandy beaches with a wonderful off-leash dog park.

The Leuty Lifeguard Station is an historical landmark and the most photographed structure in the Beach.

I have not yet used it as a backdrop for dog photography but plan to do so next time.  It would make a great spot to take photos of your dogs.

But I have made it down there early enough to capture it at the blue hour of sunrise and it looks awesome!

Kew Gardens is a park that stretches from Queen Street all the way down to Kew Beach on Lake Ontario. The park is about  20 acres and is named after Kew Gardens in London. With its flowers, trees and open spaces it is a great location to take your dog and family photos.

DOG PHOTOGRAPHY AT KEW GARDENS TORONTO

I will usually start off a photo session in the gardens while the dog is still nice and clean.

After spending some time taking photos of the dog and its owners amongst the trees and flowers, we then move on to the beach to finish off the session with the dog frolicking in the water.   That’s where he can finally get dirty and wet!

It is at the beach that I so enjoy photographing dogs in an around the waters of the lake. The water provides a lovely backdrop and I can capture wonderful action shots of the dogs playing and splashing and doing what dogs love to do.

With so much variety to offer Toronto’s Beaches area is a really great location for dog and family photography sessions.
