Dog Photography at The Beaches, Toronto
/One of my favourite locations for dog photography in Toronto is The Beaches (often simply called The Beach).
Located just east of downtown Toronto, The Beaches has a charming, small-town feel that makes it seem a world away from the bustle of the city. With its tree-lined streets, welcoming atmosphere, waterfront views, and abundance of green space, it offers a wonderful setting for both pet and family photography sessions.
Two of the area's greatest attractions are Kew Gardens and the beautiful sandy shoreline along Lake Ontario. Kew Gardens provides a lovely backdrop with its mature trees, colourful seasonal gardens, winding pathways, and open grassy areas. It is an ideal location for more traditional portraits, candid family moments, and dogs who enjoy exploring in a quieter environment.
Just steps away are the beaches themselves, where the lake creates a stunning natural backdrop unlike anywhere else in the city. The expansive shoreline, soft sand, and ever-changing light provide endless opportunities for creating beautiful images. One of the highlights for many dogs is the nearby off-leash area, where they can run freely, splash in the water, chase a favourite ball, and simply enjoy being dogs.
In fact The Beach is one of the most dog-friendly neighbourhoods in Toronto.
The historic Leuty Lifeguard Station is one of the most recognizable landmarks in The Beaches and has become an iconic symbol of the neighbourhood.
It makes a wonderful backdrop for dog photography, adding both character and a strong sense of place to portraits. The station helps create images that are uniquely tied to Toronto's waterfront.

Kew Gardens is a park that stretches from Queen Street all the way down to Kew Beach on Lake Ontario. The park is about 20 acres and is named after Kew Gardens in London. With its flowers, trees and open spaces it is a great location to take your dog and family photos.
DOG PHOTOGRAPHY AT KEW GARDENS TORONTO
I will usually start off a photo session in the gardens while the dog is still nice and clean.
After spending some time taking photos of the dog and its owners amongst the trees and flowers, we then move on to the beach to finish off the session with the dog frolicking in the water. That’s where he can finally get dirty and wet!
I especially enjoy capturing dogs in and around the water, where the lake provides a beautiful natural backdrop. It's the perfect setting for creating lively, joyful images of dogs running, splashing, playing, and simply doing what they love most. The combination of open space, shoreline scenery, and natural light makes it ideal for both action-filled portraits and relaxed family photographs.
With so much variety to offer Toronto’s Beaches area is a really great location for dog and family photography sessions.
