“Mr. Blue Sky" is the theme for week 25 of the 52 Week Pet Photography Project in which I am participating. June, late spring here in Toronto and what a perfect time to photograph blue skies! But wait… this year has been one of the rainiest on record. So when I decided to take little Miley out for a photoshoot I was hoping for a clear day.
Well I was lucky. The skies cleared just before we headed out to the local park for our session.
But getting the sky into the photo with a tiny dog ( Miley is really small!) and the location we had to use, proved to be a challenge. I had to shoot from low, beneath her, to get enough sky into the frame to satisfy my goal. I found a small hill at the park and we positioned her on the hill while I lay below her and pointed the camera up to incorporate some sky. Click!
Next I decided to have her standing on top of a surface to raise her up so that the frame would be able to incorporate the sky. We found 2 surfaces on which to stand her and managed to showcase her beneath the beautiful blue sky.
Of course using a wide angle lens also helped. Had I used a telephoto lens, there would be very little chance of sky being a significant part of the photos.
I am looking forward to some more blue sky images from Elaine Tweedy of I Got the Shot Photography, serving pets and their people in Northeastern PA and surrounding areas. Then continue clicking on the link at the bottom of each page for some other images from dog photographers around the globe.
I would love to photograph your furry friends under a blue summer sky!
