Natural Light Pet Photography

I primarily photograph dogs outdoors, because I like to see dogs in their natural surroundings, where they are most comfortable and full of joy! Shooting outdoors allows me to find the most favourable source of natural light to bring out the best in the photographs of your beloved pets.

Having said that, I may add in some flash if the moment requires an extra shot of light in combination with the natural light available to me at the time.

My style of dog photography leans towards lifestyle photography, showcasing dogs in a natural environment, dogs running or playing, dogs outdoors in the city, or dogs in their own home where they feel most comfortable. For in home photo shoots I’ll use natural window light with an added a touch of bounce flash if required.

You may prefer studio type of pet portraiture in which the pet is usually photographed against a solid background and placed on some type of prop such as a chair or other surface. This is often a more formal type of portrait shot.  It really is a personal choice as to how you want your pets to be photographed. You should also consider if your pet is a candidate for studio photography. If you have a dog that is timid, shy or stresses easily, an outdoor location would probably be more favourable for the session.

So when choosing your pet photographer, one of your deciding factors is the style of images you would like.

If you browse my portfolio you will have a clear sense of my style and hopefully that will help you to decide if I am right for you and your pets.

I work in and around the Toronto and South Florida (Boca Raton, Palm Beach, Deerfield Beach, Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Parkdale ) areas and would love to be your dog photographer of choice!  If you’re looking for natural and candid shots of you and your dog, please feel free to contact me to chat and see if we may be the right fit.
